Tubular Membrane Equipment

Both tubular membrane and hollow fiber membrane shape like cylindrical. Diameter of hollow fiber membrane is generally less than 3mm while it is usually 4-25mm for tubular membrane. Tubular membrane is composed of 0.3-6m-length glass fiber synthetic paper, non-woven fabrics, plastic, ceramic or stainless steel and other support components. Single membrane tubes are bounded together to form a series of membrane tubes, which are fixed properly in a plastic or stainless steel cylinder to constitute a tubular membrane component.
 
Types of tubular membrane

(1) by membrane material

According to the membrane material, tube film can be divided into organic tube and inorganic tube membrane which were shown as below:
Organic tube films: PVDF, PES, PP, PAN, PS, etc.

Inorganic tubular films: Al2O3, ZrO2, TiO2, SiO2, molecular sieve, stainless steel, etc.

(2) by filter accuracy

According to the accuracy, tubular membrane mainly has tubular microfiltration membrane, tubular ultrafiltration membrane, tubular nanofiltration membrane, and tubular reverse osmosis membrane.
 
Features of tubular membrane

(1) Long working life and special support structure to prevent membrane rupture;

(2) High filtration efficiency. Tubular membrane can not only remove cloudy suspended solids, fibers, etc., but also remove bacteria and some macromolecules, such as plastic, starch, protein, etc.;

(3) Liquid flow is fluent with small pressure loss, so it is suitable for liquids containing large particles and suspended solids;

(4) Capability to anti-foul because of its unique open channel design;

(5) High Mechanical strength.
 
Applications of tubular membrane equipment:

Fermentation broth filtration (such as antibiotics, vitamins, amino acids, organic acids, biological pesticides and other fermentation broth)

Concentration of primary enzyme

Functional oligosaccharide dehumidification filtration

Clarification of animal and plant extracts

Clarification and sterilization of alcohol

Clarification and sterilization of milk

Clarification and sterilization of fruit juice

Clarification and sterilization of tea drinks

Clarification and sterilization of seasoning (soy sauce, vinegar, etc.)

Recovery solid powder from waste liquid

Purification of tap water, well water, river water, and lake water

Treatment of life and municipal wastewater

Treatment of oil wastewater, oil emulsion wastewater, industrial acid-base wastewater, electroplating, dyes and other industrial wastewater

Other filter separations.
