Organic acid refers to some organic compounds with acidity. The most common organic acid is carboxylic acid, whose acidity originates from carboxyl (-COOH). Sulfoacid (-SO3H), sulfinic acid (RSOOH) and thionothiolic acid (RCOSH) are also organic acids. There are a lot of important basic chemical raw materials in organic acids, such as citric acid, diacid, lactic acid and itaconic acid.
 

       With the increasing market competition, the national environmental protection policy continues to upgrade; the way to reduce production costs, improve product quality, conserve energy and reduce emissions has become the most important thing for organic acid production enterprises. The level of fermentation and the quality of raw materials are improved, while the active optimization of the extraction process has become the main means to improve the competitiveness of organic acid manufacturers.

      At present, there are the following new technologies of organic acids:

•   Ceramic membrane is used to replace the traditional filtration methods to clarify the fermentation liquor, improve the quality of filtrate and reduce the resin pollution and solvent dosage and solvent volume in the later process

•   Application of membranes for removal of small molecular impurities can enhance the quality of products to a new level

•   Continuous moving beds are used to replace the fixed beds and improve the stability of desalination and product yield; save resin dosage and reduce unit consumption

•   The application of continuous chromatography separation technology can extract organic acids to change the whole extraction process
