Catalysts are widely used in petrochemical and chemical industry, and the products and catalysts usually should be separated after reaction. The inorganic ceramic membrane has excellent heat resistant and chemical resistant solvents and good mechanical strength and has shown outstanding advantages in petrochemical and chemical production.

    Compared with the traditional sedimentation, plate and frame filtration and centrifugal separation, the difference is that ceramic membranes mainly adopt cross-flow filtration in solid-liquid separation of catalytic reaction. It is necessary to separate the feed liquid for constant circulation at the circulation side, and the membrane surface can retain catalysts, while the reaction product is permeated through the membrane hole. Because the fluid flow is parallel to the surface of the filter media and the filtration resistance is greatly reduced, the higher permeate flux can be kept at lower pressure and the filtration operation can be carried out continuously for a long time.

    Disadvantages of the traditional catalyst separation method:

•   Large amount of catalyst loss, low utilization;
•   The content of catalysts is easy to exceed the standard, which affects the quality;
•   It is not easy to regenerate catalysts, and the service life is short:
•   Low degree of automation and high labor intensity, most of them are intermittent reactions;
•   Advantages of inorganic ceramic membrane separation technology applied to catalyst recovery and regeneration:
•   Recoverable superfine powders and nano-catalysts;
•   The ceramic membrane is resistant to high temperature, organic solvent and strong acid and alkali, and it can be used in most reactions;
•   There are few catalyst contents in products to improve product quality;
•   Low catalyst loss rate to lower production costs;
•   Good catalyst regeneration effect increases the time of repeated use and prolongs the catalyst life;
•   Totally-enclosed automatic continuous production can be realized.
